Neeson is proud to support a number of charitable works, and also to innovate with some of our partners on a broader perspective. Please read Kim’s personal messages below.

Over the last year, I was struck with the type of gift giving and incentives that are put forward by various court reporting companies in our community. As a person who has always believed in ethics first, I have struggled with how Neeson could, with integrity, compete with things such as an all-expense-paid trip to Vegas that an assistant could win simply by placing a booking for court reporting services; days at the spa as a reward for booking at a particular court reporting firm; and large scale parties at chic locations where the alcohol flows freely. My belief is a firm should be booked because it is the right place to conduct a discovery or hearing for your client. In certain circumstances many of the “gifts” violate corporate and governmental policies on this topic, may cause the recipient and their firm to potentially be in breach of Revenue Canada guidelines on the claiming of such gifts, and ultimately some of these “gifts” really belong to the client paying the disbursement.
Say It Forward allows our clients to bank credits from the purchase of transcripts that may be applied towards services in two ways. First, as a credit towards any firm’s pro bono activities where services such as court reporting, videoconferencing or boardroom rentals are required, or alternatively credits may be donated by our clients to Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO).
Our goal is to work with our law firm partners to “[P]ay It Forward” and help those for whom access to justice is not an affordable option. To register your firm in our program, please contact Sharon. Together we can make a difference in the lives of many Ontarians.

PARTICIPATION • ACKNOWLEDGEMENT • COMMITMENT • TRANSFORMATION
Having met with founder David Lockett and his team over the last few years, I feel I have found a place where I (both personally and through Neeson) can make a meaningful commitment not only monetarily, but of best business practices through the donation of my time and expertise acquired through the building of Neeson & Associates. PACT, through its innovative and entrepreneurial model, changes lives -- the lives of high-risk youth who live in our community, who never get a break and are on the verge of becoming life-long criminals. PACT has created many programs for at-risk youth, and these programs provide the opportunity for transformation, for the learning of a new skill, and for a second chance. PACT allows these youth to achieve success – perhaps for the first time in their lives. Through its innovative programs, PACT has been able to provide a meaningful chance at changing a life from a potential recidivist to a contributing member of society, based on a model of funding that is primarily community-based as opposed to government financed, thereby allowing it the freedom to implement and grow programs as needed. I am truly honoured to be a part of this wonderful organization. Watch for future initiatives soon!

As a mother of two sons, I can’t imagine facing the challenges that the families in Lesotho, Africa experience when AIDS and HIV enter their lives – and most especially, how tiny newborns and young children deal this significant and serious disease. Touching Tiny Lives provides essential care to severely malnourished, critically ill or orphaned babies, and additionally provides outreach health care service to socially support children, pregnant women and caregivers in their villages. Neeson is proud to support TTL’s initiatives.
